This table is beautiful BUT the marble top is not meant for dining or kitchen use. We knew that marble was porous and could stain, so even though the manufacturer said the top was sealed, we put our own coat of sealer on…and figured to repeat every six months. What we didn’t know was that marble also “etches”. Any food or liquid that is the least bit acidic will remove the finish and “scratch” the table. Think vinegar, tomatoes, fried food, bacon, soft drinks, dairy, coffee, alcohol…the list is almost endless. We are so annoyed by this that we are having the table stripped and coated with a substance that lasts for 10 years (we hope). Unfortunately, the treatment cost 75% of the original table cost.
